Ratfist!

One of the most creative people that inspired me to be an artist at a young age was Doug TenNapel (of Earthworm Jim fame). Once I found out he was writing & drawing his own graphic novels (a total of 10 so far!), I started eating up everyone that I could get my hands on :P They are all superbly well-paced with great pure black & white art which eventually got me into inking (and I quickly discovered how beautiful and meditative the process of inking is). I also saw an online lecture he did that made me change the way I saw art. So...yeah, he's awesome.

and on that note, here's some fan art  for his new emerging superhero RATFIST (which is a web comic you can check out here)

*UPDATE*

AWESOME! My artwork was posted on the Fan Art section of the webcomic site! It totally made me giddy like a little school girl when I saw it. Thanks Mr. TenNapel!

Demented Bunnies

well, most of them are.

Oh Totoro...

Here's the initial reason I wanted to do these bunny designs, to make a cool silhouette lineup. I've never done one before so I was aching to try it! SO COOL.

Robin Daffy key chart

So I was uploading some old animations on YouTube for the first time and during the process, I found myself romanticizing over lost animations that were never fully complete. So of course, because I have a hard time letting go, I had to do a second one of these commemorative key chart thingies :P Here's a link to the first one I did for those people who don't remember or have no idea what the hell I'm about about. So pretty, no? :D

As for the Robin Hood thing, that was actually a pose test exercise we did in class a long time ago. I really loved those too so that was another inspiration to do another key chart thingy. However, I drew on top of my old poses because I wanted another crack at drawing remotely close to the power of Kahl. Also my older poses were criticized for being too exaggerated and goofy so I wanted to communicate the same poses with more toned down drawings, basically like Kahl. Even though I still laugh at the last pose, haha.

This turned out to be my favourite one and as close to Milt Kahl as I could get without falling over.

SWEET.

Oh and here's a link to the Daffy animaiton moving in all it's frames, for anyone who's curious to see these things in action :)

Slothmate

A sloth-like character inspired by Sid the Sloth from Ice Age. I designed him a while ago when I thought it was cool to make animal hybrids out of different, unrelated species. Obviously, a single animal type is just NOT ENOUGH.

New Years Cleanup

Thought I'd do a last minute sketchdump of some remaining doodles of 2010.

I wanted to get these drawings off my computer so I can have a clean slate for 2011 and make way for more, more and MOOORE!!!

That is the goal.

Wish me luck!

(and also, for all the people with the nice comments over the year and my non-reply to them: Thank you all very very much :D )
